this weekend i went to paris to see Playtime, a salon dedicated to kids , this time it was mostly fashion, but there were some nice toy / lifestyle brands too. i was mostly curious to see what this event is, and also to get to know people who work in the industry i am trying to get into. smalltalk and pitching your project 10+ times a day is not coming natural to me, especially that most of the brands were occupied by pitching themselves and getting buyers, however at the end f the day some professionals got to know my name, and who knows, maybe we will work on some projects, photoshoots together.
the show is Huge, and it takes place in the beautiful parc floral, where i read quite a lot in the moments of fatigue, in the summer i love to re read books, somehow usually i end up with latin american writers, now its the classic 100 years of solitude that kept me company on my kind of lonely trip (which i love!)
i will not jinx my luck by going on about the brands i talked to, and the brands that i hope to collaborate with, so let me just show you some of the beauties i saw:
nursery bags by Pehr
/
details of the stand of Forivor
pillowcase by Lilinoa
Semon appartment - didnt know them before, one of the lightest fabric i touched
vegetal leather playmat by Pomaine - very simple, elegant product
lovely stand and crew of Sticky Lemon
its certainly not easy to start a brand, but being here and talking to many beginners at least i know that now i have some people who i can talk to, who are also working So much on making their vision come alive, while being eco conscious - that is an important factor in the selection of the brands (lifestyle brand space curation by Fanny Petit!)- that is definitely not making things cheaper, but trying to find a way to keep the prices available to the public while thinking about the effects of producing, carefully thought packaging, that functions as something else later on, bags from reused plastic in the case of sticky lemon, vegan leather playmat that took super long to develop, truly, it is such a huge universe, with so many different and exciting approaches, i am kind of overwhelmed to be honest, seeing what it takes to even be present in such an event, where things could take off.
this is it for now, hope you had a fun weekend too, i was happy to be in paris!
